2nd MISSION
2019 - Distribution
Following the initial visit of two of our members – Obadiah 2nd vice President and Malieka DPU chair, it was clear that there was an issue with the clothing of the children who were present.
Issue
Old and worn out clothes
The issue was that most of the children who attended the Orphanage did not possess a change of clothing and the clothes that they did have were old and worn out.
Based on this finding clothing was made an immediate priority and initiatives came primarily from Florida USA and the UK with the first delivery from these locations being brought in 2019 by our member 2nd vice President Sister Idey, who travelled from the from Florida USA, and items from the UK.
The clothes were distributed by our member Desta Bukulu and our 1st Vice President who had travelled from the UK.
The response from the children, volunteers and some of the parents was wonderful and the need for these clothes became very apparent.
Chairs
Comfort is important to learning
As a result of these initiatives many children’s chairs were purchased in Ethiopia, funded by Elaine Tennent who resides in Coventry, UK and delivered to the school by our member on the ground in Shashemane, Brother Kamba.
Food Share
Being well nourished helps the mind lean effectively
A food share initiative was also launched 2021 which involved private and more affluents schools bringing children at lunch time to share food with the children at the Orphanage school.
3rd MISSION
More distribution of items in 2022
A second delivery of clothing took place November 2022, along with other items included T Shirts, water bottles, to support hygienic drinking, skipping ropes to encourage fun and exercise, these items came from members in the UK (mainly Manchester, Birmingham, and London). These were distributed on site by members of the School Board, the school co-ordinator, staff, and the local Abba Gada.

At the end of 2022, items arrived by post, including Pens, Pencils, Erasers, and workbooks were sent in by our Juvenile member based in Canada, special thanks Lilly Mae
We would like to take this opportunity to announce our sponsor a disabled child initiative
What does this mean?
Sponsors will be expected to commit to a monthly sponsorship of 50 dollars US.
It will be necessary to set up a standing order payment linked directly to their bank or Pay Pal, which can be cancelled at anytime (with notice?).
Each sponsor will be paired with a child and will receive an electronic pack, which will include a welcome letter, background information on the child, along with their name, a photograph, their disability, family life and finally living conditions.
Sponsors can expect to receive reports on that child every 3 months with video evidence.
Sponsors will be entitled to visit that child under their own expenses if they so wish and give any extra support that they are able and willing to give.
